SOUTH Yorkshire sales training expert Maria Clews has taken her industry knowledge to the heart of the USA.
For she has been called in to create a tailored training programme for engineers and operations managers working on the redevelopment of the former World Trade Centre, New York's Ground Zero.
Maria, of Sheffield's Ask Training Services, provides regular consultancy sessions for Doka, one of the leading contributors to the redevelopment of the World Trade Centre Tower 4 at site of the terror attack that shook the world in 2001.
Doka's formwork systems and system components - the company is leader in concrete construction work across the world - are now forming a vital part of the work taking place at the site.
And Maria went to Canada, Washington and New York to provide a specially formulated Management Training boot Camp.

The intent was to provide management skills sets that were common and most important to our managers while focusing on team building exercises with real life situation role plays. This would allow them to draw upon each others knowledge, experiences, advise and moral support in becoming more effective managers. It would enabling them to better lead their teams in a more united business decision making process rather than allowing emotional persuasion from other staff members to influence their decisions.
All of the participants from our Northeast and National office in Little Ferry, NJ were able to relate the group situation and role plays activities because of their evolvement on the World Trade Center, Tower 4 in New Your City. Because of the projects high profile, it was essential for our team of Engineers to coordinate, plan and support all work activities along with our Operations to ensure the success of this project. This created a great sense of team building which was evident in the training.
The content and method of presenting was very clear and concise and were specifically suited towards the needs of the team. Using a minimal amount of power point slides that were reinforced by use of flip charts while challenging the participants for interactive participation was a key point to the success of this training. Topics were directly related to the management skill sets and role plays activities create relevance towards every day situations were essential in the learning process.
Overall the Management Training Boot Camp was a great success for us and we will look to re-running for other management staff in the near future."
